A short news letter to remind you all that for the next two weeks we will be teaching the Shim Sham line dance from 7pm to 8pm at Mandurah and Rockingham. All levels can attend, if you are a beginner you only have to pay one fee only for both classes.

This line dance is done worldwide at any swing dance function, so come along and have fun learning this famous line dance.

Very shortly all the details for the annual Margaret River swing dance camp will be available, mark your diaries for this fantastic get-a-way event.

This will be a short news letter to cover what is happening this weekend down Mandurah way.

Two functions that you can attend to meet the other students from either the Mandurah or Rockingham class’s and maybe other swing dancers from the Perth swing dance schools.

Saturday night; a dinner dance, come and enjoy some tasty pasta and pizza and a social dance all in one. This will be a great opportunity for all to attend, meet other swing dancers enjoy the music and of course we will all entertain the other patrons! A gentle reminder to all that have put their name down to attend but have yet to pay, can you please pay at the class or contact Markus.

If you enjoyed Saturday night’s function and you want to finish your weekend off listening to some live jazz music then head on down to the Mandurah RSL. That’s Jazz will entertain you for the afternoon with some very cool jazz music and the dance floor is there for those of you that wish to have a dance or three! Busy times has prevented me from sending out frequent newsletters, please take your time viewing this lengthy update on what’s coming up in the world of swing dancing!

Firstly the current beginner’s course will only go for five weeks; there was a mix up on my behalf with the advertising so next week will be the last week of the course. The next six week beginner’s course for Mandurah will start on Tuesday 8 June, Rockingham Wednesday 9 June.

May I ask that you pass this information onto to people that you believe might be interested to come along and have a taste of the dance.

I would like to say a special thank you to all the folks from Bunbury that attend the class in Mandurah on a Tuesday night, you travel a fare distance to attend and add to the class, once again thank you for your keen interest in the dance!

Well it’s on again, another restaurant dinner dance in June. This will be a great opportunity for the Mandurah and Rockingham class’s to get together for a social dinner and dancing. This social function is open to all that wish to attend. I will supply the dinner and dancing music and of course we will all entertain the other patrons! This Saturday night live club splanky at the Como Primary School hall with Denise Dale and her Speakeasy six (in other words live music to dance too) this is another great opportunity to attend a great social function where you can have a dance with dancers from other schools from around Perth. Another 6 week period has finished, congratulations to all that have completed the six week beginners course and are now moving up to level two.

Next week the new beginners course starts in both Mandurah and Rockingham, spread the word about the dance, see if you can bring some friends along. Please remember that no one can join the beginners course after week two!

Hullabaloo 2010 Lindy Exchange is upon us, this is an event that has a lot of social dancing, two days of workshops and a formal ball. This five day event offers some great socialising with other swing dancers from Perth and attendees from around Australia and overseas. With the amount of dancing on offer you are sure to improve your dancing. (see diary events below for further details)

Michelle, Tracey and I were invited to Bunbury on the 11^th of April, to present an introduction swing dance workshop. May I say that we had a fun time introducing the dance to the locals over a three hour time frame. I would like to thank Brian and Enzo for putting it all together and all those that journeyed to Bunbury from Perth to help out.

As most of you have noticed I am sending out this news letter fortnightly. My current workload has been very busy so I will try and put as much information in as possible to keep you up to date with the goings on in the world of Swing dancing.

This Saturday club splanky is on again, this is a great function to attend. Get together with other dancers from around Perth for some awesome social dancing. So don’t sit at home and twiddle your thumbs pack your dancing shoes and head on down to the Come Primary School (see diary events for further details)

Now the best piece of news, this Sunday the Rockingham Swing Band and the Royal Australian NAVY Big Band will be playing their stuff from 1.30 pm at the Rockingham Mussel Fest. I have been in touch with the events coordinator and offered the use of Simply Swings portable dance floor. They have of course jumped at the offer. So pack a pick-nic, a rug and of course your dancing shoes and head on down to Churchill Park foreshore Rockingham for an afternoon of social dancing to some great live music. Well folks we took Swing Dancing to Albany now the Folks in Bunbury have put their hand up and requested an intro workshop into the world of swing dancing! Michelle, Tracey and I will be heading down on the 11^th of April, the workshop will start from 1.30 pm till 4.30pm. Stay tuned for further details to come.

On another note, I have organised an adventure get a way camping event over the Easter long weekend down in beautiful Margaret River. If you are interested in doing some camping and participating in some adventure activities drop me a line or call, at present I have 13 people attending.
