Information regarding Simply Swing dance classes

When attending Swing Dancing classes you need to be aware that this style of dance can be very aerobic at times. We recommend that you wear flat shoes, or sneakers/runners whilst attending the beginner’s course. Please bring a water bottle, clothing should be comfortable and flexible. In summer time you will need to bring change of tops/t-shirts, deodorant and a towel.

Fees policy for Simply Swing

Simply Swing dance school offers a 6 week beginner course on a Monday or Wednesday night at the Simply Swing Dance Studio Port Kennedy. The six week course paid up front will cost $90.00 which will give you a saving of $30.00 over the six weeks or $5.00 per class. Alternatively you can pay as you go at $20.00 a class. There will be an allowance that if you pay $20.00 on the first night and then decide that you want to pay the full amount, then you can pay the difference on week two only.

Simply Swing Dance School does not give refunds if you are unable to attend pre-paid classes. If for some reason you are prevented from attending the classes you have pre-paid, then Simply Swing will give you credit for when you return to classes. If you choose to stay away from classes due to illness, injuries due to an accident, a medical procedure, a personal reason or choice due to a possible illness, Simply Swing will give you credit for those classes that you have paid for when you return. If Simply Swing cancels a class or classes then a refund or a credit will be given depending on what arrangement is agreed to.

The Bonus Offer

Pay the full amount and we give you the other nights attendance for free, this means that you get two nights of dancing for the price of one.

Behaviour Statement

You are attending Simply Swing dance school along with other people from many diverse places and back grounds. Everyone attending has the right to feel comfortable and safe at any of our Simply Swing teaching venues or any dance function that has been organised by Simply Swing dance school.

As a student in class we ask that you;

• Respect other people; we all come from different backgrounds and beliefs.

• Help new dancers to feel welcome and comfortable in class.

• Only offer advice to other students in class if they have specifically asked you for feedback.

• Dance in a manner that will keep yourself and your partner safe and not cause injury or harm. If you are unsure, please ask a teacher.

• Be courteous to those teaching you by listening to our explanations and following the class content. We always welcome your questions as we teach.

• Ensure you do not participate in any behaviour that could be considered inappropriate – for example bullying, sexual harassment or intimidation – whether this be physical touching, the language you use or anything else.

• Ensure you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  If you notice that a fellow student is having difficulty or is uncomfortable, please bring it to the attention of the teaching staff.

As a student at a Simply Swing social dance we ask that you;

• If you are dancing with someone for the first time, introduce yourself and make them feel comfortable. Look after each other whilst dancing and learning together to ensure that the dance experience is an enjoyable one.

• Always ask someone if they would like to have a dance before commencing. A “no” response must be accepted if one is given.

• Respect other dancer’s abilities. If you are an advanced dancer and you ask someone for a dance that has less familiarity with swing dancing, help them to enjoy the experience by dancing at their level.

• Only offer advice to another student whilst social dancing if they have specifically asked you for feedback.

• Dance in a manner that will keep yourself, your partner, and others on the floor safe and will not cause injury or harm.

• Ensure you do not participate in any behaviour that could be considered inappropriate – for example bullying, sexual harassment or intimidation, whether this be physical touching, the language you use or anything else.

• Ensure you are not under the influence of drugs or alcohol to such an extent that could put a yourself or another person at risk. If someone lets you know, verbally or non-verbally that they are feeling uncomfortable, address your behaviour, apologise sincerely, and make a change immediately.
